Got out on a Null-Sec roam with some Alliance mates last night. Four of us went out, FC’d by Fifth Dimensinon, with T1 Cruisers and me in a Stilletto. Much fun was had and I actually survived for quite some time, ended up getting shot up just a few short jumps from home. But as Fifth said during one of our engagements with some pilots of the DamnedNation Alliance – “Sometimes it’s all about the trades.” – and we got some good ones… 2skulls (Falcon), 2skulls (Naga), FearCult (Ishtar).

And as usual I’ve got my eye out for those little blue dots on the Star Map to help with my Cyno’syndrome illness… if they aren’t too far off our route I’m compelled to go check them out and last night we just happened across two doses of the cure… crystal kupps (Ibis), thom3 (Magnate).

thom3 was not too pleased, calling me a “tough guy” in local. Now while I didn’t respond, it’s not my style to get engaged in flame wars with the pilots in local, he should know better – I’ve got a sickness and he should stop enabling it!

Vidforla

One of my favourite ships to fly is named after Gudrid Thorbjarnardóttir, also known as Vidforla or “the Far-Traveler”. Gudrid was a Viking woman who, five hundred years before Columbus, sailed off the edge of the known world.

That ship is my Exploration Fit Stiletto, which with ever increasing skills seems to be a continuous work in progress. This is my latest fit:

Had a good busy EVE Weekend. Enjoyed lots of fleet action with the Alliance doing a few POCO defenses and bashes – we were looking for a fight but unfortunately no one came out to play.

I got out on two long exploration roams. My first was my most successful to date. A 120+ jump round trip into Stain – hit three fairly low traffic systems, got lucky, scanned down three Relic and two Data Sites and managed to nail over 220 million ISK in loot very quickly. It was a good haul and I didn’t want to push my luck so I plotted a route out and jumped my way back home.

I planned my second long roam with thoughts of hitting Outer Ring and some Serpentis sites. I plotted the shortest route possible and started my burn. Now in hindsight there were a couple of things I should have put some thought into before embarking on this trip.

1. I was making this trip during one of the most active times in EVE, there was well over 40000 people on.
2. The west of New Eden is an active war zone.

I made it within six jumps of Outer Ring… I jumped into PF-346 and held cloak to check local and D-Scan. There were only a few in local and nothing on D-Scan so I hit my warp and headed toward the FD-MLJ gate. As I got close I hit my D-Scan again, there were two on gate a Typhoon Fleet Issue and the other I can’t remember. I did warp to Ø and as I landed I was spamming jump but no luck – I had not yet experienced a smartbombing let alone a Shadow Serpentis Large Plasma Smartbomb but I can now say that I have – there was a BOOM! and then a KERSPLAT!

Can’t complain (too much) that ship and clone had earned their keep! Next time I attempt that run I’ll do it during a more quiet time and maybe even try to circumnavigate some of those more active systems.

Rjúka Útanlands

I’ve recently finished up training Archaeology 5 which will make cracking those Relic Site cans a wee bit more efficient so I’ve been looking at DOTLAN EveMaps and planning my next big exploration roam.

It’s looking like a trip towards the South West into Sansha space is in the works. I will hit up Stain, Esoteria and Paragon Soul.

It’s a long’ish trip (60+ jumps) into unknown areas but it will hopefully be fruitful…

Other than making ISK one of the goals with my exploration is to scan down Null-Sec Relic Sites for each of the Pirate Factions:

Angel Cartel
Blood Raiders
Guristas Pirates
Sansha’s Nation
Serpentis

I’ve managed to complete three of the five off that list and will be making some long trips in the near future to complete the other two. I have also spent some time in the Null-Sec Rogue Drone regions searching for sites but have had no luck finding any yet. I’m using DOTLAN EveMaps as my main source of information during my exploration travels.

Once Phoebe rolls out I will add another secondary goal to “venture forth into the deeper, darker unknown” of the Wormhole Class 1, 2 and 3 systems.

I’ve got a ways to go with my skills before I will try to attempt any Sleeper sites.

F0RCED ENTRY. was been Wardec’ed by The Marmite Collective for the past couple of weeks so my solo mission’ing in High Sec has been put on hold until this war ends… to make up for some of that lost mission’ing, when I’m not engaged in an Alliance or Corp activity, some of my EVE time has been spent solo roaming Low and Null-Sec in an Exploration Fit Stiletto which I got into after watching JonnyPew’s video “How to Fit a Raptor for Null-Sec Exploration Hacking sites”.

My skills aren’t quite up to snuff yet so I’m blowing up my fair share of cans but even with losing them my loot haul is still quite impressive. I have not found anything epic (yet) but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time and patience until the dice land pure and I get that fortuitous shiny random drop of legend – just knowing that there is a chance I could find a BPC for a Dark Blood Control Tower out there somewhere will keep me heading back out deep into Null-Sec.
