I enjoy the passive ISK you get from PI. Sure the initial set up of the planets can take a bit but once that is done it is a check and do maintenance every few days kind of thing so not too much of a chore. One problem with these last few moves has been with the POCOs. Quite often they are owned by someone that is not Blue to us so the taxes are way too high to make any decent profit and that looks to be the case in our current AO so… it’s POCO bashing time!

I went looking for some numbers to get an idea of how long it will take to put a POCO into its reinforcement cycle. A POCO has 10,000,000 Shield HP which you need to get to 25% to put it into ref. Doing 300 DPS that would take just under 7 hours, with 600 DPS that drops to around 3.5 hours, 1200 DPS drops it to just under 2 hours, you’ll need 4200 DPS to get that down to around 30 minutes and if you’re looking to get it done in approximately 15 minutes you’ll need around 8400 DPS.

Time to grind.

For the past couple of weeks we had been under a Wardec from The Consolidated Navy, a pretty small twelve to fifteen man Corporation, and while they had gotten a few cheap kills against us they did not have much luck as most of our Alliance is out in Null-Sec.

On the other hand I got some luck while I was perusing their killboard stats and noticed that they had been hitting some POCOs. I decided to go for a little Recon roam and look for them and find them I did… so I went ahead and shot one to send a little message Consolidated Navy’s way – that Wardec was ended the very next day.

Had a good busy EVE Weekend. Enjoyed lots of fleet action with the Alliance doing a few POCO defenses and bashes – we were looking for a fight but unfortunately no one came out to play.

I got out on two long exploration roams. My first was my most successful to date. A 120+ jump round trip into Stain – hit three fairly low traffic systems, got lucky, scanned down three Relic and two Data Sites and managed to nail over 220 million ISK in loot very quickly. It was a good haul and I didn’t want to push my luck so I plotted a route out and jumped my way back home.

I planned my second long roam with thoughts of hitting Outer Ring and some Serpentis sites. I plotted the shortest route possible and started my burn. Now in hindsight there were a couple of things I should have put some thought into before embarking on this trip.

  1. I was making this trip during one of the most active times in EVE, there was well over 40000 people on.
  2. The west of New Eden is an active war zone.

I made it within six jumps of Outer Ring… I jumped into PF-346 and held cloak to check local and D-Scan. There were only a few in local and nothing on D-Scan so I hit my warp and headed toward the FD-MLJ gate. As I got close I hit my D-Scan again, there were two on gate a Typhoon Fleet Issue and the other I can’t remember. I did warp to Ø and as I landed I was spamming jump but no luck – I had not yet experienced a smartbombing let alone a Shadow Serpentis Large Plasma Smartbomb but I can now say that I have – there was a BOOM! and then a KERSPLAT!

Can’t complain (too much) that ship and clone had earned their keep! Next time I attempt that run I’ll do it during a more quiet time and maybe even try to circumnavigate some of those more active systems.

The weekend saw some intent Alliance enterprise – we had a good meeting with a large portion of the Alliance in attendance and starting laying down the ground work towards making the Alliance some ISK. Lots of ideas about ways to do this and we’ll be employing a few of them. To get us started we’re setting up an Alliance wide Planetary Interaction chain that will get us producing some commodities.

After the meeting we went out on an Alliance Op and took down a couple of POCOs then I spent some time in the Inty Explorer and hit a few sites – didn’t get much though, it was pretty slim pickings.

Ran with another crew for part of Sunday and after a quick roam we went for a POS bash then I had a quick case of Cyno’syndrome before heading out to try to find a few more exploration sites – got a good haul and ended up with over 75 million in the hold, think that is likely my best explore yet but still no shiny item of epic’ness…
