I’ve got Kalam skilled into both Caldari and Minmatar Carriers so I’ve been messing around with the Chimera and Nidhoggur trying to get some sort of idea of how to fit them. My thought process is that the Chim would be for PvP and the Nid for PvE but truthfully I don’t know, this is all just conjecture until I can play with numbers once EFT gets updated and then do some trial by fire.

Lets take a look at the Chimera first…

Chimera (5H, 7M, 4L) ~ Caldari Carrier Bonus (per skill level):

  • 4% bonus to shield resistances
  • 5% bonus to Scarab Jamming optimal range

This is just a base thought for a fit – I’ve not played with the fitting in game at all so have no idea if it’ll be viable but at least I’ll have some sort of starting point and I’ve left the rigs out of the equation for now.

  • 5% bonus to Dromi Stasis Webification range

Same as above, just a base thought for a fit, no clue if it’ll be viable.

Claw - RAIDER Mk.M-C

With her speed she’ll likely be first to tackle any target. She’s kinda squishy so she’ll need to get in quickly and tight and hopefully get under the guns that are targeting her. The SAAR will give her a little extra survivability though and if all goes well a few seconds should be all it takes for the rest of the Raiders to arrive and wreak some havoc.

I did throw the concept out to the fellas but haven’t seen much excitement about it, albeit things are pretty busy at the moment, so I’m thinking I’m going to go with the “If you build it, he will come” philosophy and at least plan a one off Fleet special event kind of thing.

Fastr Sókn – [Taranis, RAIDER Mk.G-T]

There are four ships that fall into the group of Combat Interceptor; the Claw, Crow, Crusader and the Taranis. Of those four there are two that stick out to me and fit well into my vision of the Edson’s Raiders Fleet. The first one I took a pass at is the Taranis.

On EFT this boat has the most on paper DPS and the addition of the drones can be a nasty little surprise to some folks as they may not be paying attention to drones when an Interceptor is on grid with them.

Fastr Sókn – [Vigil Fleet Issue, RAIDER Mk.M-VFI]

The last Navy Ewar Frigate, and likely my favourite of the bunch, that I EFT’ed on is the Vigil Fleet Issue which has a bonus to Rocket explosion velocity and Rocket damage but more importantly an ECM bonus to its Stasis Webifier range.

Vigil Fleet Issue - RAIDER Mk.M-VFI

In the group of Navy Ewar Frigates this boat has the potential to have the farthest engagement range of the bunch. You could fit a faction web and be able to web out to almost 30km and then use modules and rigs which can extend the range of the rockets out to 20+km but for this fleet I am going with a T2 long point and a T2 web and went with rigs to get some more DPS out of her. Again the core idea for this Fleet type being ~ close distance, turn your propmod off, orbit close and blow things up!

The Empire Navy Ewar Frigates are all, for the most part, close range brawling boats and I went with that in mind when playing around on EFT with them. Ideally you’d have one or more of each Ewar Frigate in a roaming Fleet as they would all compliment each other incredibly well.

First up is the Crucifier Navy Issue which has a bonus for Tracking Disruptor effectiveness.

Crucifier Navy Issue - RAIDER Mk.A-CNI

You’ll have to decided before undocking… Tracking Disruptor vs Guidance Disruptor. I went with the Tracking Disruptor and the Tracking Speed Disruption Script. My core idea for this Fleet type being ~ close distance, turn your propmod off, orbit close and blow things up taking on missile boats will not be an ideal match-up.

I’m continuing to run with the inspiration from the Marine Raiders and going fully themed with my ‘Edson’s Raiders’ Fleet Doctrine. I thought the new’ish line of Empire Navy Ewar Frigates would be a solid way to honour the Marine Raiders tradition and am going to give a go towards designing a roaming doctrine around the four of them supported by the DPS’centric Interceptors.

I’ll be EFT warrior’ing six hulls:

the four Navy Ewar Frigates

  • Crucifier Navy Issue
  • Griffin Navy Issue
  • Maulus Navy Issue
  • Vigil Fleet Issue

and then two DPS’centric Interceptors

  • Claw
  • Taranis

 

Even if it’s a one off and we get whelped right away I think the Fleet would be a ton of fun to take out on a roam… Ewar for everyone!!!

Gjálfrmarr – [Typhoon, Miss Tiny Temper]

I’ve not seen much theorycrafting happening with the new Missile Guidance Modules so thought I’d take a crack at it and see what I could come up with? First attempt is a Typhoon Sniper… messed around a bit and ended up with the fit below – with all V’s EFT is showing that she targets out to 231.65km with a missile range of 237km. DPS for the missiles only is 688 with an Alpha shot of 4494. The drones and neut for defense against fast tackle and smaller ships. She has zero tank but her cap is decent so keeping range with the MWD and Jump Drive shouldn’t be too difficult, but saying that and practical application may not always jive?!
