Tiamat was release on Tuesday February 17th and with it the the Minmatar Tactical Destroyer known as the Svipul was introduced to New Eden. She’s a pretty boat and I’m looking forward to piloting her but I’m in no rush. Will wait for the excitement to die down some and prices to settle before I go looking for a hull to buy.
In the meantime I’ll just admire her from afar…

It’s getting close… the Tiamat release hits on February 17th and with it the Svipul the Minmatar Tactical Destroyer gets deployed. Found a couple of things to keep up the STOKE!!!

For the next few weeks I’ll be concentrating on training up some weapon system skills in Gunnery and Missiles. I will be focused on getting the following skills to Level 5:
- Medium Projectile Turret
- Missile Launcher Operation
- Light Missiles
I will follow up those skills with their appropriate Specialization Skills to at least Level 3, possibly Level 4 and then move on to some of the other Gunnery and Missile support skills and get a few of them to Level 4 before remapping and moving on to Drones. Well… before I remap I will wait for the Svipul to be released and get the Tactical Destroyer skill in too!
I need a lot of work on my Drone skills, I’d like to have the option of flying at least a couple different T2 drone variants which will open up a ton more PvE and PvP fitting options with my ships.

The Svipul has three modes with distinct physical configurations and bonuses and actually pivots on an internal axis to present a horizontal profile in Propulsion Mode and a vertical profile in the default Defense Mode as well as Sharpshooter Mode. A word of warning… these stats and bonuses for the Svipul are subject to change based on feedback and player testing on the Singularity test server:
Minmatar Tactical Destroyer Bonuses Per Level:
- 10% bonus to Small Projectile Turret damage
- 10% bonus to Small Projectile Turret optimal range
- 5% reduction in heat damage generated by modules
- 95% reduction in Scan Probe Launcher CPU requirements
Additional bonuses are available when one of three Tactical Destroyer Modes are active. Modes may be changed no more than once every 10 seconds.
- 33.3% bonus to all shield and armor resistances while Defense Mode is active
- 66.6% reduction in Microwarpdrive signature radius penalty while Defense Mode is active
- 66.6% bonus to maximum velocity while Propulsion Mode is active
- 33.3% bonus to ship inertia modifier while Propulsion Mode is active
- 33.3% bonus to Small Projectile Turret tracking while Sharpshooter Mode is active
- 100% bonus to sensor strength, scan resolution and targeting range while Sharpshooter Mode is active

After reading the “Awesomesauce: The Confessor, The First of the new Tech 3 destroyers.” post over at Evenews24.com I got pretty STOKED on the idea of flying a Tactical Destroyer and have queued up training Minmatar Destroyer to Level V. An added bonus to training Minmatar Destroyer to V is that it will also open up access to being able to fly Interdictors and the Sabre looks like a fun ship to pilot – although it will need some additional skills as well…. namely Science V, Propulsion Jamming V, Graviton Physics I and Interdictors I.
It’s highly likely that the Minmatar T3 Tactical Destroyer will be the last to be introduced, while sucky this will at least give me some time to get the training complete and get some more PvP experience.
