“The Star Map is a powerful tool if you know how to use it. You can access all sorts of information about the different areas of EVE, no matter how far you may be from them.” ~ taken from the Star Map page of EVElopedia.

I didn’t know how powerful until recently. With a walk-through tutorial from the brother and my EVE mates I was introduced to all the perplexities of the Star Map. One in particular has now developed into an affliction of sorts, which I’m fully blaming on the brother, and calling “Cyno’syndrome”.

At any given time you can open up your Star Map and see all the active Cynosural Field Generators in all of New Eden. A cynosural field, once fired, will prevent the pilot from ejecting from the ship, docking or movement in any direction or distance for 10 minutes… this leaves the cyno ship and pilot extremely vulnerable to attack. A lot of these pilots will log off shortly after firing their cyno and after being introduced to this I’ve been taking full advantage of that vulnerability.

One of these days I’m hoping to luck out and get to the cyno in time to maybe get a point on a Jump Freighter and then hold it long enough to get some help with the kill.
